Media Programme

Creativity and technology

Are you interested in film, TV, the Web, photography, music, design, advertising, moving graphics or journalism? Do you have a wealth of ideas? Everything can be mixed, combined and published via digital media.

At Broby Grafiska you use the very latest technology in an environment where many creative programmes are grouped under the same roof. Here you work to actually realise your ideas!

You will work in projects and to meet set deadlines. It won’t be relaxed nor easy, but we promise it will be great fun. All you need is motivation and the will to become really good at what you do. There will be major future demand for professionals who have grown up with the new technology. Since the pace of technological development is so rapid it is an advantage to be young and have relevant training that is tailored to the industry’s needs.

Entrepreneurial learning

The focus will be entirely on you for three years and you will face challenges that are new and unfamiliar. You will base your work on your own interests and ideas, encounter setbacks, reflect on your actions, succeed and learn. During these challenges you will cooperate with others (both within and outside the school), take responsibility, calculate risks and solve problems. You will have a small close-knit team of teachers on hand to support and guide you towards finding and developing your will, drive and talent. Practical and theoretical subjects are included through varied teaching during extended blocks of lectures conducted as projects. The goal is for you to be able to develop and realise your ideas upon completion of the programme.

Upper secondary education with a holistic approach

You work with media production in all the subjects within the Media Programme. When English appears on the timetable you will translate your newly written text. For Civics, you will create a filmed report. When you learn to work with the Web, you do so while working with photos, animations, sound and text. That is how things are done in the real world and that is how they are done here with us.

Find your strengths

Following your study programme you can embark on further study in media, communications or similar subjects. During this programme you will also learn the foundations of being able to start your own business in the future. Broby Grafiska develops its study programmes based on the industry’s needs, which provides you with excellent opportunities to find a job immediately after your upper secondary school graduation. Different students have different plans. It is important that you identify your strengths and start planning your future working life.

Inspiring environment

In one and the same school we have education programmes in scriptwriting, leadership, photography, printing, media, the Web, design, health and packaging design. Here you will be in an environment with other students, who are all developing in a creative area – you will greatly benefit from and enjoy each others’ company! You undoubtedly know that technology in IT and media is developing incredibly quickly, which makes the ability to collaborate with others extremely important.

The school with opportunities

Broby Grafiska is a special school. On a typical day, as well as meeting all the upper secondary school students, you might also encounter a delegation from Japan, researchers from Italy, industry representatives on training courses and students on our Advanced Vocational Education and Training (AVET) programmes. In several subjects you will have the same teachers who provide further training for professionals already working in the industry. We are known for having the latest technology, bright and clean premises and unusually good industry contacts. Here you have all the opportunities you need for great fun, personal development and establishment of your own contacts!

Vocational programme

The Media Programme is a vocational programme designed to prepare students for working life. The programme comprises ¬¬2,500 upper secondary school credits. The number of credits is calculated based on one week’s full-time studies corresponding, on average, to 25 upper secondary school credits. The guaranteed number of teaching hours is 2,430.

At Broby Grafiska you have the opportunity to study 2,650 credits within the framework of the regular school day by means of an extended individual curriculum.

Basic eligibility for further studies

After you have finished your upper secondary level studies with at least a Pass in at least 90% of the 2,500 credits, you will have basic eligibility to continue your studies at a third-level college/university or to take Advanced Vocational Education & Training (AVET) programmes. It is a good idea to find out at an early stage of your upper secondary school education what special qualifications are required for the further education programme in which you are interested.

Marks

Marks are given at the end of each course. The grading scale is IG/Fail, G/Pass, VG/Pass with distinction, and MVG/Pass with special distinction. You must have a mark in all courses in order to receive a school leaving certificate. Attendance is an important factor in being successful with your studies.

Obligatory general courses before specialisation

The first year is a foundation year and includes learning how to work in projects. The obligatory general courses give you a taste of the various areas of specialisation to make it easier for you to choose a profile for Years 2 and 3.

Profile courses

You choose the profile you want for your following upper secondary school years in order to develop your strengths! At least eight students are required for a profile course to be offered.

Individual choice with greater opportunities

Individual choice consists of 300 credits that you choose. You can select courses based on interests that are not included in the overall education programme, choose to do more in-depth training within the programme, and/or to broaden your eligibility for further studies. You can choose freely from the range of subjects that the school offers. The number of students interested determines whether the courses will be held.

You can choose additional courses, worth a total of 150 credits, in the extended individual choice framework. These courses are guaranteed.

Project work

This course is worth 100 credits and the work must be linked to the education programme and its goals. For example, you can do a survey or investigative study, develop a concept, and much more. In setting grades, the study process itself is as important as the result.
