Graphic Media Production (national admission)A well-packaged upper secondary school education programmeGraphic Media Production is a programme with a broad approach. The first year can be regarded as a foundation year that gives you basic graphic design knowledge plus opportunities to try out all aspects of the graphic industry. You work on various projects with layout, design, images, text, etc. for products such as magazines, brochures and packaging – from concept to finished product. You learn to handle the entire design process plus the most common software in layout, illustration, image processing and Web production. The knowledge gained in Year 1 gives you a good basis for choosing the specialisation that you feel is most interesting for your subsequent years of upper secondary studies. You can choose from three areas of specialisation: Graphic Production Flexography, Graphic Media Production and Packaging Design. Here with us you have every possibility of achieving your dreams. Good marks in Graphic Media Production will enable you to get a job right after graduation from upper secondary school. This programme gives you basic eligibility for further studies in Broby Grafiska’s Advanced Vocational Education and Training (AVET) programmes or at university and other higher education institutions. A. Graphic Production FlexographyFlexography is the printing method whose use is increasing the most throughout the world, especially in the packaging industry. Confectionery, crisps, milk and much more are packaged in secondary packaging that uses printing from a flexo press. The school’s printers keep modern graphic industry standards and there are very good opportunities of getting a job immediately upon graduation from upper secondary school, especially for printers. B. Graphic Media Production/Packaging DesignThe areas of specialisation teach you the foundations of design and graphic production, from concept to complete professional product. Graphic Media Production/Packaging Design offers practical application of design combined with basic knowledge of software for layout, image processing, illustration and Web production. Packaging plays a crucial role when we purchase a product. Almost everything that is made must be packaged in a safe and attractive way. Design is not just the decoration on the package: design is the entire package. A feeling for colour and form, creativity, and an interest in technology are good qualities for a future in graphic production. The subjects you will study include the form and properties of letters (typography) plus the compilation of texts and images (layout). Inspiring environmentIn one and the same school we have education and training programmes in scriptwriting, leadership, photography, printing, media, the Web, design, health and packaging design. Here you will be in an environment with other students, who are all developing in a creative area – you will greatly benefit from and enjoy each others’ company! The pace of technological developments is extremely rapid and cooperation is more important than ever. The school with opportunitiesBroby Grafiska is a special school. On a typical day, as well as meeting all the upper secondary school students, you might also encounter a delegation from Japan, researchers from Italy, industry representatives on training courses and students on our Advanced Vocational Education and Training (AVET) programmes. In several subjects you will have the same teachers who provide further training for professionals already working in the industry. We are known for having the latest technology, bright and clean premises and unusually good industry contacts. Here you have all the opportunities you need for great fun, personal development and establishment of your own contacts! Unique proximity to industry – Technology College The Industry Committee and Teknikföretagen (the Association of Swedish Engineering Industries) have initiated the Technology College concept to meet future demand for technology skills. The aim is for technology programmes at upper secondary and post-upper secondary levels to be permeated by dialogue and close cooperation with the industry. Vocational programmeGraphic Media Production is a vocational programme designed to prepare students for working life. The programme comprises 2,500 upper secondary school credits. The number of credits is calculated based on one week’s full-time studies corresponding, on average, to 25 upper secondary school credits. The guaranteed number of teaching hours is 2,430. At Broby Grafiska you have the opportunity to study 2,650 credits within the framework of the regular school day by means of an extended individual curriculum. Basic eligibility for further studiesAfter you have finished your upper secondary level studies with a Pass in at least 90% of the 2,500 credits, you will have basic eligibility to continue your studies at a third-level college/university or to take Advanced Vocational Education & Training (AVET) programmes. MarksMarks are given at the end of each course. The grading scale is IG/Fail, G/Pass, VG/Pass with distinction, and MVG/Pass with special distinction. You must have a mark in all courses in order to receive a school leaving certificate. Attendance is an important factor in being successful with your studies. Obligatory general courses before specialisationThe first year is a foundation year and includes learning how to work in projects. The obligatory general courses give you a taste of the various areas of specialisation to make it easier for you to choose subjects for Years 2 and 3. SpecialisationHere you choose what specialisation you want your education to have. Individual choice with greater opportunitiesIndividual choice consists of 300 credits that you choose. You can select courses based on interests that are not included in the overall education programme, choose to do more in-depth training within the programme, and/or to broaden your eligibility for further studies. You can choose freely from the range of subjects that the school offers. You can choose additional courses, worth a total of 150 credits, in the extended individual choice framework. These courses are guaranteed. Project workThis course is worth 100 credits and the work must be linked to the education programme and its goals. For example, you can do a survey or investigative study, develop a concept, and much more. In setting grades, the study process itself is as important as the result.
