Packaging Design, 3 years

From concept to finished product

Packaging Design is a three-year programme. It gives you skills that bridge the knowledge gaps between designers, production staff, printers, repro-staff, and others. We build bridges in the chain from concept to finished packaging delivered to the end user, encompassing technical design, materials, function, decoration, logistics and environmental considerations.

Varied teaching that is close to real life

During the programme you will work in a stimulating environment with skilled instructors and access to a unique range of technical equipment.

The training at Broby Grafiska nurtures an innovative approach in which new design and construction ideas give you the opportunity to participate in award competitions and exhibitions. The programme also includes visits to various trade fairs and production companies. This gives you knowledge of and the opportunity to establish contacts in the packaging market, which is Europe’s third largest industry.

You receive training in special subjects within the area of packaging. Courses such as image processing, prepress, digital photography, colour control, colour management (CMM) for various printing techniques, typography, and graphic design are also included. We have two Kongsberg tables and a 3D printer to make packaging prototypes.

Training based on the industry’s needs

The programme has a unique structure and is based on demand from the packaging industry. This uniqueness is partly thanks to the high quality of the equipment, and partly thanks to our close contact with packaging industry companies and organisations both in Sweden and abroad.

Graduates from our programme currently work for employers such as advertising agencies, product companies, printers, repro companies, printing ink manufacturers, or as design coordinators for multinational packaging companies. These are just some examples; your own interests will subsequently determine the job sector in which you want to work.

A MARKETING/ADMINISTRATION

This specialisation suits individuals who are interested in packaging design in terms of technical design, strategic design, logistics, and advertising effects. Obligatory general courses before specialisation

At the start of the programme obligatory general lectures are given for the two areas of specialisation Production and Marketing/Administration. Towards the end of the programme the lectures are focused on each specialisation. The programme incorporates short and long projects linked to trade and industry.

Graduation from the programme

When you have completed your studies, obtaining at least a Pass in all courses, you will receive a certificate and diploma. You will also receive a certificate issued jointly by the Swedish Graphic & Media Workers Union and the Swedish Graphic Companies’ Federation. This certificate guarantees that industry quality requirements
have been fulfilled from the perspective of employers and employees. If you lack the required number of credits for a full qualification you will receive a course certificate instead.
