Graphic Media Production, 3 years

From concept to finished product

The Graphic Media Production Programme gives you a broad range of expertise in the graphic field. After the first year you can choose between these areas of specialisation: Flexography Production Techniques, Graphic Media Techniques or Web Media Production. Regardless of the specialisation, our approach is “from concept to finished product.”

The unique graphic profile of this programme creates a common platform that gives all three areas of specialisation an interdisciplinary holistic view. Large parts of the programme are done in project form with links to the industry.

Our teachers have broad industry experience and we work in modern premises with the latest equipment and technology. This means that you have every imaginable opportunity to make contacts within the industry and to develop your skill.

A FLEXOGRAPHY PRODUCTION TECHNIQUES

Flexography is a printing method used primarily in the packaging industry. It is the fastest growing printing technique in the world. If you want to work in an expanding industry with opportunities for development then this specialisation is for you.

You gain insight into all existing printing processes – from the computer monitor to the finished printed material. You gain both theoretical and practical knowledge of printing and prepress techniques, measuring and quality techniques, and maintenance and control techniques.

With such broad-based training you will be sought after in the graphic industry both in Sweden and abroad. The specialisation gives you the competence to do tasks associated with printing processes with a main focus on flexographic printing. As a flexography engineer you can find employment in the graphic industry jobs as production manager.

B GRAPHIC MEDIA TECHNIQUES

This specialisation is suitable for creative individuals who are interested in coordinating design and technology in graphic production. Courses in image and repro techniques, colour and quality control, as well as graphic design, typography and layout give you the knowledge to control and monitor the entire production flow.

This specialisation prepares you for skilled tasks in media techniques such as the production of materials for producing printing plates, graphic text processing and design, digital image processing, and the integration of computer-processed information.

After completing the programme you can get a job at an ad agency or design agency, or with the repro/prepress department of a newspaper/magazine or printers.

C WEB MEDIA PRODUCTION

This specialisation is for individuals who want to produce content and technical solutions for the various channels on the Web. The programme encompasses everything from concept, the design of text, images, animations, film, sound, and technology to distribution. Upon completion of the course you will have good knowledge of the various aspects of Web production.

Examples of job categories include Web producer, interface designer, application designer, Web programmer and animator.

Obligatory general courses before specialisation

Some programme courses are obligatory for all areas of specialisation to give you a holistic view and broad competence. Graphic Media Production has three areas of specialisation. The programme incorporates short and long projects linked to trade and industry.

Graduation from the programme

When you have completed your studies, obtaining at least a Pass in all courses, you will receive a certificate and diploma. You also receive a certificate issued jointly by the Swedish Graphic & Media Workers Union and the Swedish Graphic Companies’ Federation. This certificate guarantees that industry quality requirements have been fulfilled from the perspective of employers and employees. If you lack the required number of credits for a full qualification you will receive a course certificate.

Eligibility and selection

The fundamental requirement is basic eligibility for higher education. Priority will be given to applicants with at least 3/G (Pass) grades in English B and Mathematics B and/or who have taken vocational training in graphic studies.
