What is a AVET Programme? AVET comprises study programmes that are tailored to the requirements of working life and the needs of the industry. You spend a third of your studies as a trainee on periods of learning in the workplace (abbreviated to LIA in Swedish). One AVET credit is equivalent to one week’s studies. The content of the study programme is determined by a management group, of whom at least 50 per cent come from the industry. The programme is subject to state supervision and is eligible for post-secondary student aid from the Swedish National Board of Student Aid (CSN). Advanced Vocational Education and Training (AVET) will become Yrkeshögskola
The AVET form of study will change in 2009 when all post-upper secondary vocational training outside universities and higher education institutions will be grouped in a vocational higher education framework called Yrkeshögskola. The training will therefore only be offered if the required decision is made.
